Using Syndemic theory, this paper explains how the social, psychological, and economic factors experienced by African American and Puerto Rican heterosexual young adults in Hartford, USA underlie the set of sexual ideas, attitudes and behaviors, and sexual behaviour decisions that give rise to the spread of multiple and potentially interacting STDs
